This guided meditation is inspired by a verse (DISSOLUTION) from the Ashtavakra Gita (a classic Advaita Vedanta scripture written as a dialogue between the sage Ashtavakra and Janaka, king of Mithila). The text of this can be found at the bottom of this page.
The sounds in this meditation can provide guidance to relax the body and mind and to allow a shift in attention for you to experience your own being as it naturally is.
The meditation
This sound meditation has been developed as a landscape of sounds without focus. It requires an open (360 degree) way of listening. Listen and discover the silence underneath the sounds. The underlying silence from which everything arises is your very own quiet awareness, the eternal Now. The landscape that shows itself is constantly changing, just like life itself. It is this, that we are normally constantly aware of. We recommend that you do this meditation sitting in order to avoid falling asleep. Again and again try to consciously stay with the sounds and experience it without words.
The creation
We made recordings in the studio and used recordings from our The Manifest & The Unmanifest concerts. During those concerts we create sound layers much like a painting is made.
Frans and Harry have translated this method to the studio by joining sound tracks and linking them together. The starting point, however, was not to create a rendition of a singing bowl or gong concert, but to create a sound bath in which the listener could meditate and dissolve. First as a witness and then as the totality itself.
Everything you hear is recorded acoustically, such as gongs, crystal alchemy bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, many overtone instruments, choir, Indian flute, sopranos and percussion.
This ‘Landscape of Sound’ meditation was created by:
Frans de Rond – technique and sound production (Sound Liaison)
Harry van Dalen – sound producer (Spirit Connection)
Michael of Polen – video
Gwen de Jong – voice (Spirit Connection)
Hymn to the Silence ensemble:

DISSOLUTION (verse from the Ashtavakra Gita)
You are pure.
Nothing touches you.
What is there to renounce?
Let it all go,
The body and the mind.
Let yourself dissolve.
Like bubbles in the sea,
All the worlds arise in you.
Know you are the Self.
Know you are one.
Let yourself dissolve.
You see the world.
But like the water in a mirage,
It is not really there.
You are pure.
Let yourself dissolve.
You are one and the same
In joy and sorrow,
Hope and despair,
Life and death.
You are already fulfilled.
Let yourself dissolve.
