SOLUTION - Landscape of Sound - meditation

Landscape of Sound meditation

This meditation is inspired by SOLUTION, a verse from the Ashtavakra Gita (a classic Advaita Vedanta scripture, written as a dialogue between the sage Ashtavakra and Janaka, king of Mithila). The text of this can be found at the bottom of this text.

The meditation

This sound meditation was developed as landscape of sounds without focus. It requires open (360-degree) listening. Listen and discover the silence beneath the sounds. The underlying silence from which everything arises is your own quiet awareness, the eternal Now. The landscape that reveals itself is constantly changing, just like life itself.

We recommend doing this meditation sitting down to avoid falling asleep. Again and again, try to consciously stay with your attention to the sounds and experience 'wide'.

The creation

We recorded in the studio and used recordings from our The Manifest & The Unmanifest-concerts.

During those concerts, we paint with layers of sound, as it were. Frans and Harry translated this method to the studio by merging and linking sound tracks. The starting point, however, was not the reproduction of a singing bowls or gong concert but to create a sound bath in which you as a listener can dissolve meditatively. First as a witness and then as the totality itself.

Everything you hear is recorded acoustically such as gongs, crystal alchemy bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, many overtone instruments, choir, Indian flute, sopranos and percussion.

SOLUTION (verse from the Ashtavakra Gita)

You are pure.

Nothing touches you.

What would you have to give up?

Let go of everything,

The body and the mind.

Let yourself dissolve.

All worlds manifest in you,

Like bubbles in the sea.

Know that you are the Self.

Know that you are one.

Let yourself dissolve.

You look at the world,

But like a mirage,

It's not really there

It is all imagination.

You are pure.

Let yourself dissolve.

You are unchanged the same,

In joy and sorrow,

Hope and despair,

Life and death.

You are already fulfilled

Let yourself dissolve.
