The power of sound
Gongs, singing bowls and other overtone instruments release conditioning. The gong, in particular, is a unique instrument: with every strike, a trillion harmonic vibrations are created. These fill the space and press against your body and your thoughts; they dissolve of their own accord – you cannot escape them.

One of our gong accessories – the mallet – is crucial to the quality of the sound. The mallet determines how the gong sounds: soft, warm tones or powerful, dramatically sharp notes.
A mallet that is too hard on a large gong can produce an unpleasant, metallic sound, whilst a mallet that is too soft on a small gong can muffle the sound rather than amplify it.
When buying a mallet for your gong, it is important to consider its size, weight, material and handle. The right mallet allows the gong to sound as it is meant to; it brings out the full range of tones and rich resonances, which is very important for sound healing, meditation or musical expression.

What is the difference between a tam-tam gong and a symphonic gong?
- Tam-tam gong (also known as a Chau gong): a flat disc with a curved rim, producing a deep, thunder-like sound.
- Symphonic gong: thinner, without a raised rim, with a wider range and richer overtones.
What are planetary gongs?
Planetary gongs are tuned to specific astronomical frequencies (such as the rotation of the Earth or the Moon) based on calculations by Hans Cousto, amongst others. They are often used in sound healing or meditation because of their supposed energetic effects.
How do I choose the right size gong?
- Small gongs (20–60 cm): portable, with a clear sound, suitable for smaller spaces.
